Scenes with Beaches
With so much water on the planet, we have lots of shorelines. Some are rocky shores and some are sandy beaches.
- Russia #2275 seashore, Far East
- St. Pierre et Miquelon #326 - 40¢, Soldier’s Bay, from 1947
- Lebanon #?? Baie de Djounie, which must be on the Mediterranean coast.
Below are four shorelines from New Zealand.
- #626 Karitane B. on the Pacific Coast of the South Island.
- #627 Ocean B., Mount Maunganui along the north shore of North Island
- #628 Piha B. is on the other side of the peninsula from Auckland.
#629 Kaikoura Coast is along the northern section of Pacific coast of South Island The next set, also from New Zealand, are all "Scenic" according to the title on them, with the last one in a souvenir sheet.
- #850 Scenic Knight’s Point on the west coast of South Island
- #851 Scenic Beck’s Bay
- #852 Scenic Doubtless Bay is near the tip of the northwest peninsula of North Island
The Souvenir sheet:- #853 Scenic Wainui Bay is on the north shore of South Island. Notice that it sold for $1.20 (upper right corner of the sheet), but face value was 80¢ on the stamp.

The top row:- #2029 Studland Bay, Dorset, with a beach
- #2030 Luskentyre, South Harris, Outer Hebrides off Scotland’s north west coast.
- #2031 Dover, Kent, showing an overhead view of the White Cliffs.
The lower set:- #2034 St. Abb’s Head, Scottish Borders, on the eastern coast of Scotland
- #2037 Portrush, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The photo shows waves breaking on rocks along the shore, with a highway along the top of the cliffs.
Following is a set of 4 contiguous shoreline pictures from the USA, face value 2¢. They celebrate the National Park Centennial, and especially Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

#1450 Gulls on a broken fence, and the shore- #1451 Gulls on the same fence and grasses
Next are stamps from France.
- #571 20F Pointe du Raz, in Finistere, the western-most point of continental France
- #1069 Cote D’Azur Varoise is on the Mediterranean Coast in south eastern France.
- #2978g Pointe du Raz again
- #3047g Les calanques de Cassis is the title on the stamp. Cassis is located on the Mediterranean shore in the south of the country; calanques are sheltered inlets.
Two shorelines with cliffs, from Bahamas & Portugal:
- Bahamas #831- Eleuthera Cliffs on the shore of the island of the same name.
- Portugal #?? - Cabo Girao in the island archipelago of Madeira, off the coast of Portugal, in the Atlantic Ocean.
Lovely sandy beaches in New Zealand & Australia:
- New Zealand #1602 Scenic Walks, West Ruggedy Beach, Stewart Island, off the southern tip of South Island.
- Australia #1981 Port Douglas, Queensland, on the eastern shore of northern Australia.
Harbours
These are somewhat protected areas where boats can seek shelter from a storm. They are also the commercial port facilities at the shore of a body of water, but I will show only natural bays, not the man-made wharves & piers.
From Canada:- #242 Halifax Harbour, 13¢, on the east cost of Canada
- #244 Vancouver Harbour, 50¢, on the west coast. These 2 stamps were made as part of the Pictorial Issue in 1938.
